Vledder, G.Ph. van (Gerbrant)

General Information
Gerbrant van Vledder is involved in the research, development and application of wind wave models, wind and wave climatology, and the derivation of hydraulic boundary conditions for offshore and coastal structures.

Gerbrant van Vledder studied civil engineering at Delft University of Technology and obtained his Master thesis (cum laude) in 1983 on the subject of the statistics of wave groups in wind generated waves. Hereafter he studied methods of wave prediction focusing on the role of non-linear four-wave interactions and obtained his Ph.D in 1990 entitled “The directional response of wind waves to turning winds” From 1988 to1996 he worked as a research engineer at WL | Delft Hydraulics (now Deltares) in the field of coastal engineering with a focus on the development and application of wave models. From 1996-2011 he worked at Alkyon Hydraulic Consultancy & Research as a research engineer in the field of coastal engineering and wave modelling. Since 2011 he works at BMT ARGOSS as a senior advisor on Oceanography and Wave Modelling. Since 2007 he also has a part-time position (25%) as assistant professor in the Section Environmental Fluid Mechanics, in the faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences of the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), where he is member of the SWAN and SWASH development teams.
