Area of research
Land-sea interaction (e.g. deltas, barriers and shoreface-shelf systems). In practice this implies combining numerical modelling with field studies from both ancient and present-day depositional systems.
Projects I am currently involved in:
- A field and modeling analysis on the past, the present and the future of river-dominated deltas, applications for the Gulf of Mexico (proposal PhD project).
- Upsetting the balance in the Mahakam delta, East Kalimantan (Post-doc and PhD project).
- Sediment Supply to the Arctic coastal zone (PhD project).
- Technical and social feasibility of deep tube wells for arsenic free drinking water in Bangladesh (proposal PhD project).
- Climate Change Impacts on Shoreline Alignment (proposal Ian Goodwin and Peter Cowell, Sydney).
- Depositional history of a large freshwater birdfoot delta using geophysics and cores; St. Clair Delta, Michigan (Collaboration Remke van Dam Michigan State University.
- Mapping ancient tidal and river channels with FliMAP and AHN laser altimetry (MSc project Geomatics).
