Hydraulic Engineering

The Hydraulic Engineering department focuses on challenges facing society, such as reducing the risk of flooding and the sustainable development of coastal areas. This not only applies to typically Dutch areas, such as dykes and their failure mechanisms, but also covers worldwide phenomena, such as rising sea levels and densely-populated coastal regions confronted by the downsides of population growth and economic development. Other areas on the agenda include offshore technology, the design of hydraulic structures and logistics in ports and waterways.
