Workshop 'The Future of Cumulus Parametrization'

10 July 2017 | 9:00 - 14 July 2017 | 18:00
location: Aula Congress Centre, TU Delft
by Webredactie Communication

The purpose of the workshop is to discuss progress, challenges and future directions of the representation of atmospheric convection in weather and climate models. The 4.5-day workshop will discuss all aspects of our ability to observe, understand, model and parametrize the key aspects of cumulus convection.

Day 1 will be devoted to current challenges. Day 2 will focus on the organization of convection, while Day 3 will look at convective transitions, such as the diurnal cycle or that from trade-wind to equatorial convection. Day 4 will discuss stochastic approaches and implications of reaching the parametrization grey zone. Day 5 will focus on strategies for future parameterisation development.
