Facts and figures - Personnel
Personnel general
The table above indicates the extent of the faculty’s staff, subdivided according to department and position category. The categories are full professor (FP), associate professor (AP), assistant professor (AssP), other scientific staff, PhDs, student teaching assistant (student-assistant) and administrative and support staff (ASS). Just as in previous years, increase in scientific staff was caused by an increase in the number of PhDs. The increase in the number of employees at CiTG support was caused by a reorganization effected in 2010. Supernumerary staff was assigned at CiTG support until their reinstatement. At this moment nearly every supernumerary staff member has a new position. Furthermore there is an increase of professors. This is due to the fact that there were new Chairs available plus the fact that long term vacancies were filled in.
PhDs
The increase in PhDs is also clear in the figures. The fact that there are much more PhDs than FTE PhDs is caused by the large number of PhDs registered as guests. These guests are almost all part-time workers or doing their research somewhere else completely. Especially the departments Hydraulic Engineering (Waterbouwkunde) and Water management do have a significant amount of guests.
Naturally, this leads to a higher supervision burden for full professors; guest PhDs also require supervision. In spite of the small increase in full professors, the number of PhDs per FTE full professor is increasing. The following table shows the numbers in recent years and the distribution across the departments.

Female scientific staff
There is an increase in female professors. Furthermore the gender ratio stayed the same as in 2011. The faculty will have to continue its active policy of increasing the number of female scientists, especially because CEG does not want to miss female scientific talents. The table below indicates the ratio of men/women per position category.
