Fractured reservoirs

Distributed fractures, faults and folds have a profound impact on the geometry of sedimentary bodies and their physical behaviour, from mechanics to flow. Combining outcrop studies and numerical modelling tools we improve our ability to predict mechanic and flow behaviour of subsurface sediments. We apply this knowledge to reservoirs for hydrocarbon and (hot) water and for geomechanic purposes.

In the last 5 years we have worked in a variety of settings, from undeformed carbonates in NE Brazil and sandstones in Jordan, to folded rocks in Tunisia (carbonates) and Morocco (silicilcalstic). We implement and develop numerical tools for efficient field data acquisition, prediction of aperture patterns and flow.
