Section Applied Geology

Our section aims to increase the geological knowledge of the subsurface to enhance discovery, use and management of subsurface resources, especially in sedimentary basins where virtually all hydrocarbons, groundwater and commercial minerals are hosted.

While in the past the emphasis was on hydrocarbon reservoirs, the above considerations have led us to widen our scope to the understanding of clastic sedimentary systems as a whole.

We strive to develop tools for quantitative prediction of key subsurface properties which should lead to technological improvements in the search for and management of critical resources.
