ERC Advanced Grant voor ontwikkeling virtuele seismologie

Prof. Kees Wapenaar van de TU Delft ontvangt een ERC Advanced Grant van 2,5 miljoen euro voor zijn programma VirtualSeis. De Europese subsidie is bedoeld om in de komende vijf jaar virtuele seismologie-technieken te ontwikkelen, bijvoorbeeld om aardbevingsgevoelige gebieden beter te kunnen monitoren.Continue


Scanning for Syria

The clay tablets with cuneiform writing from the museum in Raqqa in northern Syria have been destroyed or plundered. Fortunately there exist silicon moulds of the clay tablets in the Netherlands made before the war. Dr D.J.M. Ngan-Tillard, geo-engineer at TU Delft, uses micro CT scans to create images of the insides of objects. Now she tries to do the same with the Syrian clay tablets together...Continue

Appointment emeritus Professor S. Kroonenberg as visiting Professor in Suriname

Prof. Dr Salomon Kroonenberg, retired professor of geology at TU Delft, has been appointed from February 1, 2017 onward as visiting professor at the Anton de Kom University of Suriname, Faculty Technological Sciences, Department Production of Mineral Resources.Continue
